ABOUT THE CONTEST
It all started with a single picture. Back in 2007, Garuda Indonesia, the Airline of Indonesia, held a national photo contest which evolved to be Garuda Indonesia International Photo Contest (GIIPC), a prestigious worldwide photo contest. Where every year, the contest receives exceptional response from photographers and photography communities all around the world with thousands of photos are submitted to the competition. In 2009, there were 6,170 international participants from 30 countries and 8,050 participants from 36 countries with over 14,000 photos were submitted the following year.
After satisfying years of service, Garuda Indonesia decided to rebrand the contest into something that capture the spirit of Garuda Indonesia as the flag carrier of the Republic of Indonesia. Start from 2013, Garuda Indonesia World Contest (GAWPC) will be hosting contest for creativity and photographic quality from professional photographers and serious amateur photo enthusiast across the globe. Whereas the partner in managing GAWPC is under AYOFOTO! (ayofoto.com).
Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest (GAWPC) nurture the exchanging of tourism and between towns and countries through photos. The contest’s theme are to inspire people’s interest for traveling abroad. GAWPC theme categorized in 3 (three) category: Nature, Culture and People.
The process in selecting the best photos and the honorable winners in GAWPC are involving opinion and rating from creditable Online Judges and scoring from 2013 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee. There will be 4 (four) round. Round 1, Online judges opinion will determined the top 1.000 photo from each category. Round 2, Online Judge’s rating will be rank to determined the top 200 photo from each category. Round 3, 2013 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee will select the top 5 photographer out of the top 200 photo to be GAWPC Finalist. Final Round, 15 Finalist are taken to Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia for photo hunting for the final leg.
The total prize reaches IDR 100 million, plus trophies, goodies and round trip tickets from the World’s Best Regional Airline, Garuda Indonesia.
With the theme of “My Enchanting Town”, Garuda Indonesia are welcoming for all participant to start the Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest 2013.
JUDGING PROCESS
Step 1 - Photo Submission
Photos must be in digital format. Only online entries will be eligible. No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest. The photo need to be taken with a digital camera (d-slr, pocket, mirrorless). Photo taken from wireless devices (cellphone, tablet, smartphone), scans of negatives, transparencies, or photographic prints are not acceptable.
Each digital file (photo) must be:
- less than 1.5MB in size
- JPG format (8bit)
- at least 950 pixels wide or tall
- resolution between 240-300 dpi
- preserved metadata (EXIF)
- use Adobe RGB (1998) color profile
- less in 1.5MB in size

The Theme is ‘My Enchanting Town’. Using this theme you are expected to describe your town/country by exposing the 3 aspects of Nature, Culture and People within a beautiful photo.
Step 2 - Round 1
Top 1000 are determine by Online Judge’s rating.
Though there is a chance to win a Garuda Indonesia merchandise for the most popular photo.
Everyone, except the entrant himself, have the voice to choose the photos that represent the public’s best interest. Photo lovers are welcome to pick then announce and share their favorite photos to social media.
Each photo submitted will be counted for every unique view, comment, rating and sharing to social media received from public.
Step 3 - Round 2
The top 200 photo from each Category will be sorted from the top 1000 photo. Comment, rating and sharing to social media from public are still welcome to promote the top 200.
Final ranking is on Online Judge’s scoring.
The shortlist of top 200 photos will then be judged by the 2013 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee.
Step 4 - Round 3
The 5 Finalist from each Category (total 15 Finalists) will be selected from the top 200 photo by the 2013 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee and announced shortly after submission closing time.
Step 5 - Final Round
The 15 Finalist will be invited to a Photo Hunting Trip to Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia and compete with each other to find the best photo and the best photo essay for each category in the allotted time. The Judging process will be done one day after the end of the Photo Hunting Trip.
Step 6 - Winner
The Best Nature, Best Culture, Best People, Best Overall and Special Recognition, will be selected from the 15 Finalists by the 2013 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee, and will be announced as Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest at the Gala Dinner Ceremony.
JUDGES
The Online Judges is a panel of creditable people from photography, art and creative background.
2013 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee consist of professional photographers and representatives from Garuda Indonesia.

The Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest starts May 1, 2013 at 0:00:00 A.M (GM+7) and ends July 28, 2013, 11:59:00 P.M (GM+7).

REGISTER
- Accepted photos must be graphic files taken with digital cameras.
- Each digital file (photo) must be:

- Multiple photos may not be submitted as one photo entry.
- SRGB will be applied as the standard color space during the judging process.
- Winners may be asked to submit JPG images of higher resolution for their winning photos for such purposes as to the production of publications and exhibitions related to the contest.
- Each entrant may enter a maximum of 15 JPG images.
- Submitted photos will not be returned under any circumstances.
- Upon registration to GAWPC, entrants will receive a notification letter or e-mail of registration.
- Photographers that have submitted their photos will only be accepted as contestants if they acted in accordance with the procedures mentioned above and GAWPC Term and Condition.
- All data submitted to the contest via the Internet, including image data and personal information, will be managed by AYOFOTO! as laid out by the contest management.
NOTES :
Photo that have been published and that have won any awards will not be accepted.
The committee reserves the right to disqualify entries that violate the law or show any Indonesian people, places or subjects in an uncomplimentary way.
All entrants, particularly those under 18, are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are in compliance with the legal requirements of their country.
